The equipment of BBRR consists of armor parts and weapons for the heroes to equip on. Equipment gives you the bulk of your stats and heavily influences your performance and achievement in the game.

◦EQUIPMENT BASICS◦
All equipment is assigned a
rating. The higher the equipment rating, the more valuable and rare is the equipment. Each rating is assigned a specific color for easier identification which are (from lowest rank to highest rank)
Grey,
Green,
Blue,
Purple and
Orange. An interesting fact is that the color of the border of your hero's icon changes based on what your hero is currently wearing. The border color follows the color of your hero's lowest rating equipment. For example, if your hero's lowest rating equipment is a blue shirt, your icon border becomes blue! If your hero has a complete set of orange equipment being worn, your icon border becomes orange!
Next thing to understand about equipment is its
type, meaning which part of the body it gets put on. Each hero has a total of six parts for putting on equipment:
Hands(weapon),
Head(helmet/crown),
Body(garment/shirt/blouse),
Arms(gloves),
Legs(leggings/pants/skirt)
and
Neck(necklace/locket). Equipment type is specific and each slot can only hold maximum one equipment at a time, so you can't put on an equipment meant for Head on Neck, and you can't equip all your shirts into one Body slot.
Lastly, all equipment is divided into
Generic and
Hero-specific equipment. Generic equipment can be worn by any hero and usually are armor (not weapon) of rating Grey till Purple. Hero-specific equipment can only be worn by the hero it is specific to and consists of weapons of rating Grey till Purple, and
ALL orange equipment (armor and weapon alike), with the exception of the
Eternal set.

◦EQUIPMENT ENHANCING◦
Obtaining the equipment alone isn't sufficient as it gives you very minuscule base stats without upgrading it. Equipment enhancing can be achieved through two distinctive methods: Enhance and Advance. Both are equally necessary to upgrade your equipment.
Enhancing is the process of
increasing the EXP of your equipment to increase its level numerically. You cannot enhance your equipment beyond the level of your hero. Enhancing is typically performed using enhancement materials (stones and equipment) and paid for in
Coins. See enhance table
here.
Advancing comes into play when your enhancing hits its limit at fixed levels, starting at level 10. Advancing
breaks that level limit and allows you to advance to further levels beyond that limit. Even though advancing is said to break the level limit, it still does not allow you to level it
beyond your hero level. Equipment advancement requires gemstone-type advancement materials (no payment with Coins required). See advance table
here.
◦EQUIPMENT REFORGING◦
Ever had an equipment that you have no use for? Or worried about wasting gold and material on an equipment you no longer need? Fear not, for reforging is the solution to your problems! There are two different types of reforging methods:
Fusing equipment and
Purging equipment.
Fusion is done by combining 3 of your unwanted equipment to obtain an equipment of at least the same rank by
random, free of charge. The resulting item may be randomized, but you can choose the hero who will receive the equipment, so the fused equipment has to be either hero-specific to the hero of your choice or generic. Read more about Fusion
here.
Purge is the method of extracting and retrieving the Coins and other resources you have spent on an
already enhanced equipment that you want to un-enhance. Purging usually costs a very minimal (and negligible) fee in
diamonds, so it is a really handy feature that allows you to change out of your old gear and switch to your new gear. Read more about Purge
here.
